dodgy subtext
as a film the ideas are interesting, but it descends into a chase movie, the effects are good, but it is dissapointing. more of a concern is the dodgy religious subtext which belies a hidden agenda. The issues are not honestly addressed, and instead there is an attempt to seduce via the special effects. - SiAN , posted 11/30/05

Kept me interested
I too do not usually like science fiction but I found this movie kept me interested the whole way (and thats hard for me!) I liked that it had a bit of everything but it still made you think even long after the movie had finished. They had a great imagination - Unsubscribed , posted 10/01/05

Not an Island Paradise but thought provoking
Now I'm not a huge fan of sceince fiction so it takes alot to grab my attention in regards to this jenre (you might want to check my spelling on this word!), however The Island staring Ewen McGregor is nothing short of brilliant.
Following in the footsteps of the Matrix, it asks the classic old question, "What if?". In this instance it devles into the moral aspects of cloning, or more specifically the concept of using other humans as spare parts. Depsite the obvious attempt to make the movie a hollywood blockbuster, it still maintains a level of intelect and is guaranteed to leave a bad after taste in regards to the science and cloning.
However if you are not an intelect out to see predictions of the future, the movie is also excellent on an entertainment level filled with action and suspense. - Nick , posted 08/04/05
