Support for Ravyn
I started with these swords and they are awful - heavy & badly balanced. We are lucky in Queensland to have a superb sword maker - Geoff & Zen Ptah swords. So perfectly made you can pop them on your head and go do the shopping. Could reviewers keep their comments to the product they are reviewing and not make personal comments about complete strangers. I know Ravyn as a dancer and she is wonderful with sword. - Mala Karim , posted 02/15/08

Great scimitar for dancing
This sword looks awesome, is blunt (so can't hurt anyone, unlike the cas iberia tribal sword), and is not too light and not too heavy. The handle can be reversed to lower the center of gravity (makes it easier to balance), and one can add washers to the handle to add weight there to move the mid balance point of the sword more to the center if so desired.

Unlike my fellow reviewer, I know how to balance this sword, and thus really like it: If it (or any other sword you buy) is leaning, one has to place it on ones belly leaning away, and gently pull for a split second with very little force at both ends, like a bow, with little force like hitting a piano key for a ping. Immediate release, you're not bending it. Repeat until balanced. Works for any sword. - Nazeem , posted 12/06/07

Dragon Scimitar
Frankly overall these swords are shit and not worth the money. They are poor quality, badly balanced if at all. I am lucky enough to have one that is perfectly blanced but that is rare. Mostly you will find you will need to reverse the handle and even then there might be a slight lean. On the upside theses swords are beautiful and very decorative. The odd ones that are balanced, really are a joy to dance with and work well as doubles. I have two - one that balances with the handle in the correct position and the other with the handle reversed. I would not recomend these to a beginner simply because of the unpredictability of the product . They are a very long sword and quite weighty.
Overall Length: 36 1/2"
Blade: 29 1/2"
Weight: 2 lb 5 oz

After Note:
Errr Nazeem I do know how to balance swords and have been dancing with swords for years. I am one of the best in my field in my town. I did try all you have said before I wrote the listing, but sadly I have a sword so badly balanced - nothing worked accept reversing the handle. These swords arent consistant - some balance perfect others are useless. They are a very cheap and nasty sword and some do arrive with chips and some damage. I suggest you refrain from commenting on anothers ability and stick to simply your oppinion and your experience with your sword. We actually imported several of theses swords and not one was the same as the other balance wise.

Response to Mala Karim,
Thankyou for you kind words Mala Karim. And I agree with you about Zenptahs Swords, I have bought several of his swords over the years as I have progressed from Beginner to intermediate then onto advanced. Ive never had a problem with them and yes you can put them on your head straight away. Many beginners buy his lighter swords - my mum has my intermediate lion sword - and they are perfect and safe for learning. Another note to add is that they are not an overly pretty over the top looking sword. There are several simple but beautiful designs - I'm not one for "pretty" jeweled swords so I find Jeffs simplicity very attractive. He does do jeweled swords but again they are a simple pleasing to the eye design. If people are interested message me and Ill pass on his details. Actually I should find a photo and post this as a separate reveiw.
